Why You Need a Lawyer

The lawyer’s job is to get DCF out of your life and get your family back to normal. That is not always easy, and sometimes it is not possible. However, a qualified DCF defense lawyer will fight to protect your legal rights.

Even in a relatively free country such as the United States, the power of Government is overwhelming. On TV and in the movies, the good guys almost always win. In real life, you often need assistance in dealing with governmental authorities. These folks may have priorities other than yourself.

Everyone knows that you can have a lawyer in criminal matters. This holds if you are arrested, or even if the police are only investigating.

Everyone knows that you can have a lawyer in civil matters (auto accident lawsuit, divorce, eviction, or dozens of others).

Everyone knows that you can have a lawyer in administrative matters (zoning, probate appeals, workers’ comp, etc.)

For some reason, it is not common knowledge that you can have a lawyer in DCF matters. But you can.

DCF often implies that you don’t need a lawyer, or that you will do better without one. Since DCF is not a police force, it does not have to tell you that you can have a lawyer. In fact, some DCF workers themselves will try to give you legal advice. If you read this web site, I trust you will agree that you should strongly consider retaining a lawyer to deal with DCF. It is your choice, of course.  Click here to review suggested guidelines for choosing a lawyer.
